Office for Learning and Teaching established
On 16 November 2011, Senator the Hon Chris Evans announced the establishment of the Office for Learning and Teaching to support learning and teaching in higher education.
The Minister accepted all 17 recommendations of a review conducted by Alison Johns of the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
The Office has $50 million over four years for grants, awards and fellowships and will have a focus on commissioned work and secondments to address strategic priorities.
The Office will be guided by a Strategic Advisory Committee chaired by Professor Margaret Gardner AO, Vice-Chancellor of RMIT University.

Due to the recent changes in the Ministry, the Office for Learning and Teaching will become part of the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education. Office for Learning and Teaching activities and contact details remain the same.
