Clarifying, developing and valuing the role of unit coordinators as informal leaders of learning in higher education

This study examined the role of unit coordinators as leaders of learning in higher education and as influencers of student learning. Seven responsibilities of unit coordinators are identified and moulded into a job description. The competencies needed to perform the role effectively are outlined and propositions for induction and professional development are presented.
